EducationExcellence in education is a high priority in Olympia Fields. Academic standards are high, and each student is encouraged to develop his or her unique skills and talents.In the center of one of the warmest neighborhoods of Olympia Fields can be found its own K-2nd grade school. Arcadia School is located in the center of a residential neighborhood. The school takes a proactive approach to educational issues.Children in grades 3 through 8 will attend a quality educational system in a neighboring community. Busing is provided to all who attend. Several parochial schools are also available within a short distance from Olympia Fields.
Colleges and Universities Prairie State College in Chicago Heights is one of the state's most respected colleges. It offers associate degrees in several areas of study including liberal arts, business and vocational training. Governors State University is also within a short drive from the village. GSU offers a wide variety of programs and curriculums. Other nearby colleges and university include Joliet Junior College, South Suburban College, Trinity Christian College, Lewis University, as well as Chicago's many institutions of higher education. The METRA train service has two stations in the village which makes for easy access to many universities located in Chicago. The average commute to downtown Chicago from Olympia Fields is 45 minutes. From there, bus service is available to most locations. |
