Metra Rider Safety Initiative
With more vaccines in distribution, it’s time to reignite local businesses and bring Chicago back downtown. And when it’s that time for you, Metra is the right choice to get you to the places you love the most. Metra is taking responsibility for each passenger by adopting the most stringent safety and cleaning protocols in the transportation industry. Some of these precautions include requiring masks or face coverings onboard, installing hand sanitizer dispensers and cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing trains and stations on a regular basis. Metra recently announced an upgraded high-tech air filtration system that is expected to remove and eliminate 99 percent of all airborne particulates, bacteria and viruses, including the virus that causes COVID-19. Riders can already breathe easy thanks to Hospital-grade MERV-13 air filters that replace the air on cars every four minutes, demonstrating even more that passengers can Commute with Confidence on Metra trains.
