The concept of an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) or Member Assistance Program (MAP) originated back in the 1940's, as a result of the 12-step movement known as Alcoholics Anonymous. Group members took the philosophy of a support network with them into their workplaces and began to help co-workers become drug-free and sober. Over time, problems such as low morale, high turnover, and chronic absenteeism were significantly reduced and the concept of an Employee Assistance Program was born.
Today EAP/MAP's deal with so much more than just alcohol or substance abuse. They regularly intervene with all kinds of emotional disorders and interpersonal conflicts as well as being able to provide therapeutic Resources and recommendations to you.
The program offers webinars on various topics. If you missed the flyer posted in your department, see below for links that may be of interest to you.
