The Illinois State Police maintains a sex offender registry to facilitate access to publicly available information about persons convicted of sex offenses.
Persons required to register as sex offenders are those who have been charged of an offense listed in Illinois Compiled Statues 730 ILCS 150/2(B) when such charge results in one of the following:
- A conviction for the commission of the offense or attempt to commit the offense,
- A finding of not guilty by reason of insanity of committing the offense or attempting to commit the offense, or
- A finding not resulting in an acquittal at a hearing for the alleged commission or attempted commission of the offense.
Individuals are included on the sex offender registry solely by virtue of their conviction record and the Illinois state law. The primary purpose of providing this information is to make it easily available and accessible, not to warn about any specific individuals.
Anyone who uses this information to commit a criminal act against another person is subject to criminal prosecution.
Information is updated regularly in an effort to assure that the information on the sex offender registry is complete and accurate; however the Illinois State Police or the Olympia Fields Police Department makes no representation, expressed or implied that the information is accurate. Offenders may have moved and failed to notify the Illinois State Police or the Olympia Fields Police Department as required by law.
If you have any questions about the Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry (SOR) please call 217-785-0653 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
